In 1995 our mother, Linda Marie Venzon, was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. The doctor had given 6 months. She took many forms of chemotherapy and with the proper diet, extra tips and positive attitude we were able to have her for 11 great years. She had numerous different types of chemotherapy, in which it was found out that her cancer reacted well to carbo based treatments which could be given every two years. During the times in between she was either in remission or was taking another form of chemotherapy to keep the tumors small. Throughout her experience my sister and I were consistently looked for ways to help with the side effects of the treatments. We tried a lot of different options and some were successful which we used to assist in her different side effects. Our mother never let the cancer get her spirits down. Due to a reaction to her chemotherapy she had to be given a colostomy bag. In 2004 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was just another thing we were going to overcome. She always woke up every morning glad to be alive and lived every moment to the fullest. Our mom never let the cancer win. She lost her battle in June of 2006. Due to her positive attitude and her focus on eating the right foods and adopting different habits during treatments she was able to manage and live with cancer for 11 years. |
